2002 — San Diego, Calif.—October 8, 2002—StoneFly
Networks™, the innovator of the first simple, intelligent,
affordable IP SAN appliances, today signified its leadership
in driving broad IP SAN interoperability with the launch of
its IP SAN Partner Program. The StoneFly IP SAN Partner
Program is designed to ensure customers of compatibility and
optimized performance between an elite class of IP SAN
products. To guarantee interoperability with StoneFly's new
Storage Concentrators, and to drive market awareness,
StoneFly's IP SAN Partner Program provides comprehensive
testing, certification and joint marketing for host
interconnects, storage management products and storage
subsystems. StoneFly Networks today named the first storage
networking innovators certified to deliver upon customer
requirements for simple installations, end-to-end
compatibility and optimized performance in iSCSI SAN
configurations.
"With the iSCSI standard now complete, StoneFly's
mission is to ensure that IP SAN environments based on
Storage Concentrators are compatible with a broad range of
SAN products, applications and architectures," said
Kevin J. Liebl, vice president of business development,
StoneFly Networks, Inc. "StoneFly and our partner
program members are working to provide IP SAN enterprise
customers with a guarantee of reduced SAN complexity through
interoperable solutions for managing heterogeneous storage
networks—we're pleased to be working so closely with our
charter members to achieve this goal."
StoneFly's Storage Concentrators, the i1000, i1500 and
i1500FS, are first-to-market, simple-to-use IP SAN
appliances that enable companies to quickly and easily turn
an IP network into a storage network. Storage Concentrators
are driving a new category of simple-to-install and use
devices that reduce the cost and complexity of managing
storage assets in small- and medium-sized enterprises.
To ensure customers of trouble-free implementations and
complete compatibility, StoneFly and its partners are
currently testing a wide variety of host interconnects,
storage subsystems, networking equipment, storage
applications and host-based applications. In addition to
having completed testing of many enterprise level storage
networking solutions (Download our Compatibility
Matrix in PDF format - 76k), the following vendors have
also achieved, or are in the process of achieving
certification:
Initiators:
- Adaptec ASA-7211 iSCSI Adapter
- Alacritech's 1000x1 Gigabit Ethernet Accelerators
- QLogic SANblade QLA4000 iSCSI Host Bus Adapters
Disk-to-Disk Back Up:
- BakBone Software's NetVault Software

"StoneFly and Adaptec products will make storage
networking capabilities, such as reduced backup time,
real-time allocation of storage assets and on-line
configuration, simpler and more cost effective for
customers," said Balaji Baktha, vice president of
marketing, Adaptec. "Adaptec has been driving
interoperability as a core component of our customers'
success in storage networking. We are pleased to achieve
certification through StoneFly's IP SAN Partner Program, and
we're looking forward to working together to reduce cost and
complexity in mid-sized storage infrastructures to deliver
advanced storage networking capabilities at a lower total
cost of ownership."
"We share StoneFly's vision for providing enterprise
users with reliable storage network solutions that avoid
complexity and reduce overall SAN ownership expenses,"
said Barry Haaser, vice president of marketing, Alacritech,
Inc. "Through the StoneFly/Alacritech interoperability
testing and certification, customers are assured that these
products will seamlessly interoperate with each other and
with existing networks to guarantee smooth initial
implementations as well as trouble-free additions to
existing network and storage infrastructures."
"Through the StoneFly certification program, both
StoneFly and BakBone are enabling companies to achieve
maximum return on their investments in storage assets by
alleviating the cost and complexity associated with existing
storage solutions," Larry Fox, director, strategic
alliances, BakBone Software, Inc. "BakBone's industry
leading NetVault software has been certified interoperable
with StoneFly's IP SAN architecture which makes simple,
affordable disk-to-disk backup a reality."
About the StoneFly IP SAN Partner Program
StoneFly's IP SAN Partner Program enables customers to
easily select from industry-proven products ranging from
TCP/IP Offload Engines (TOEs) and Storage Network Interface
controllers, to leading disk-to-disk backup solutions, to
enterprise class storage arrays, including emerging low-cost
ATA based arrays. As an IP SAN category leader, StoneFly
Networks developed its new IP SAN Partner Program with the
goal of ensuring the industry's broadest IP SAN
interoperability. The StoneFly IP SAN Partner Program
includes interoperability certification, joint support and
marketing agreements, installation and implementation guides
targeted toward end-users, and application notes and white
